I think that students should be tested for sleeping disorders. Have them answer a short survey, then if it points to even a possibility, check into it further.
A student today could literally NOT keep his eyes open. We had to shake him pretty roughly to get him to come to, and even then his eyes were literally rolling into the back of his head and he fell right back to sleep.
I asked if he had been tested before and the other teacher said she hadn’t considered it before, for any student.
If I had been tested in middle or high school instead of teachers just saying “get more sleep” “don’t stay up too late” “you can’t be that tired” I would have done a lot better.
Why are people not thinking to do this?
